““In Savor the Moment, Dana Piccoli writes a beautiful homage to all the queer kids who grew up hopeless romantics never seeing their loves reflected in the readily consumable way that love stories are made available to everyone else. It is sweet, funny, an easy read and you’ll feel like you already know the characters from your own life experience. Her characters manage to balance the line of relatable and enviable at the same time. There is so much care put into the crafting of the story that it reads with the unctuousness and satisfaction of a profiterole. The focus on diversity and inclusion with regard to characters is clearly both deliberate and casual-making it feel real and reflective of life. It stands out as a highlight of this book. Piccoli handles her debut novel with an abounding respect for the LGBTQ+ audience reading it and a clear appreciation for romantic comedy as a genre. She has both a clear point of view from which she’s telling her stories as well as the ability to make a piece of fiction feel like a comfortable blanket on a winter’s day.” ”
