Dana Piccoli was born and raised just outside of Detroit, Michigan. A performer at a young age, Dana spent a majority of her youth on the stage.
She pursued her love of music and stage at Western Michigan University, where she received her BFA in musical theatre performance. Dana spent many years as a professional performer and cabaret singer, something she still actively enjoys.
After years of singing other peoples music, she has found a real freedom in writing and performing her own unique brand of hard folk: Her music is rough and sweet, deeply personal yet universally relatable. Dana’s voice is rooted in emotion and energy, and her live performances are something to experience. Dana’s guitar and microphone become an extension of her body. If you want further proof, ask to see her chipped tooth, a casualty of a frenetic mouth to MIC collision.
Dana currently resides and performs in NYC. Her heart on the other hand, is somewhere deep inside Lake Michigan.
